LODD: Idaho dozer operator dies fighting wildfire

KAMIAH, Idaho — A wildland firefighter/dozer operator died Monday afternoon while working a wildfire in Idaho.

Firefighter Dennis Long, with the Idaho Department of Lands Maggie Creek Forest Protective District, died from an apparent heart attack while operating a fire dozer and putting in fire lines during suppression operations at the Pardee Fire, according to USFA.

Firefighter Long received CPR from a dozer boss and was later pronounced dead when EMS arrived on scene, according to USFA.

Firefighter Long, who was in his 50s, left behind a wife and daughter, according to KMVT.com.
