MAKAWAO, Hawaii — A firefighter in Hawaii died Thursday while on duty at the station.

Firefighter III Duane Ibarra, 50, a 20-year veteran of the Maui County Department of Fire and Public Safety, was found unresponsive in the workout room of Makawao Fire Station, according to MauiNow.com.

Fellow firefighters tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead.
