My name is Tony Vitalie and I am the owner and founder of “Careers in the Fire Service” and FireRecruit.com. I am a 20 year fire service veteran, who began my career as a Reserve and Volunteer Firefighter in 1989 with two separate agencies. I have worked as Full-time Firefighter since 1994 for three California Fire Departments and currently work as a Firefighter/Engineer for the Southern Marin Fire District. I have earned my Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from the College of San Mateo and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of CA, Davis. I tested for fulltime fire service positions from 1989 to 1997 throughout the Western United States. My insight and expertise comes from first hand experiences and from many personal failures as well as a few successes. The truth is, I was not a stand out firefighter candidate. I had to work very hard to achieve my goals and made a lot of mistakes along the way. I was a terrible interviewee and a little too immature when I first started. However, through perseverance, personal growth and hard work I was able to achieve my goals and have found great success and reward in the fire service. It truly is the greatest job in the world for those properly suited and fit for the profession. My goal now is to assist the right individuals, who possess the necessary attributes, to achieve their fire service career goals thus helping the fire service as a whole. Recruiting only the very best and most worthy candidates into our profession assures its success and helps to continue the great legacy that those before us have established. There is a reason that Firefighters are held in such high regard and it all begins with hiring the right individuals, properly training those select few individuals and holding them to the highest standards possible. FireRecruit.com’s new format is designed to help do just that, by not only providing the testing information candidates need, but also helpful advice from experts in various areas that candidates need to assist them through the early stages of their careers and beyond. I invite you to contact me directly at cfs@firerecruit.com if you have any questions regarding the pursuit of a career in the fire service. |
